/ R&D is at the heart of what we do
We have had an active research and development (R&D) department since the 1990s, with hundreds of scientific publications and participations at international congresses worldwide.
Our R&D projects have encompassed several aspects of science and technology: from basic material science investigations to the development of novel surface treatments. We have also been pioneers in the study and up-scaling of new production technologies, and in the improvement of current production processes.
Results of our R&D programs have been outstanding. As a result of our heavy investment in R&D we have been using additive manufacturing to make titanium implants since 2008. Our R&D investment has also resulted in unique technology to produce:
- Highly-porous titanium coating (Ti-Growth®)
- Plasma spray coatings for PEEK (Spondycoat®)
Additive manufacturing of titanium medical devices
- Bone substitutes (OsproLife®)
/ Collaboration is the key to success
As a company, we believe that investing in scientific research activities and continuous collaboration with universities and research institutes worldwide is vital to the success of our business.
Decades of collaboration has led to invaluable scientific investigations and such collaborations push our R&D team to keep an open-minded approach to daily problems and to stay constantly up to date about new technology and methods.
Moreover, top-level collaboration gives rise to ever-new career opportunities and strongly contributes to fostering professional motivation.
For us, R&D in a fast-evolving technological world is a total commitment.
/ Understanding and following your new ideas
Among our expert staff are engineers, physicists, chemists and biologists with the necessary skill-sets to thoroughly understand and follow your projects through to completion.
In order to ensure that your projects are realized exactly as you want, we support you with a team of professionals who can understand each detail, from scientific assumptions to expected performances.
Our R&D teams have broad expertise in the science and technology of metals, ceramics and polymers, biomechanical applications, and biology. They also have deep knowledge of plasma spray technology, metal additive manufacturing, chemistry of hydroxyapatite and calcium-phosphate coatings, and the science of titanium and other medical metal alloys.
Together we can guide your project development and find the best solutions.
It is our belief that our strong scientific expertise can result in a high-quality approach to cutting edge technologies, and the next developments in medical surfaces.
